Video Installation

Attraktion, Abstraktion deals with the representation of space and time in moving images. It examines fragments of movements which manifest in a projection on print. The print consists of picture points, abstractions of buildings and house facades, which create a spatial perspective for the viewer.

The departure point is a historical film, which was analysed with the geodetic technique in terrestrial photogrammetry to relocalise the exact position of the camera in space. The synthesis of old and new video material generates a spatial continuity with a temporal discontinuity. The project offers the viewer the opportunity to follow the images and their traces and thereby experience the complex interplay between space and time.
